Crafting and Animation Tune Up! - Journey to Ladenloft
Sorry, this update took a while due to other obligations, I will be trying to update as frequently as I can.
Crafting!
Over the past day and a half I have been able to implement the base of the card crafting system!
This system is much more robust compared to the jam version, for example when crafting I can now specify how many of a type of card is needed to craft the recipe instead of creating single card recipes, This will allow for much more interesting recipes and add more to the overall game-play making players choose which cards to craft more carefully.
more updates to crafting will likely come in later updates but for now I can test and use the base system as is.
Animation Overhaul!
Also over the past day I have refactored and completely overhauled the card animations with the use of a Tween Library.
This has allowed me much more control over each and every animation I create for the game.
I have also added a smooth movement to the cards when they are selected and are following the cursor.
More refinement is needed for all animations but for now they feel rather nice and smooth for at least testing and gives me a good base to work from later on.
Extras!
Along with this overhaul of the animation system comes a refactor of the entire card code base as well, I have generally cleaned up the card interaction and visual code which has made it much easier to work with going forward, there is now no longer any hold over code from the game jam version (yay clean code!)
Thanks for checking out this devlog, If you are interested in Journey to Ladenloft and haven't followed yet please feel free to catch each of these small devlogs and be notified when the game is available!
